Social dynamics, espcially those of large groups of people, crowds, or mass random numbers- is there a rhyme or reason, a mathematical certainty, no matter how complicated, that can predict and accurately describe why the train is busier today than yesterday, or there's more mail today, or more people in line at the bank. There has to be some meaning and cause to the ebb and flow of people each day.
