Why do some words have multiple syllables when they're not word roots or words themselves- why isnt "neath" a word, when "be" is? What's the point of having two syllable words if we haven't already exhausted all the one syllable ones? Or why not just have "neath" mean "beneath"? And what about words with useless letters- what is the point of the word "though" when it could easily be "tho"? Thankfully the internet is slowly but surely streamlining some words like this, phrases as well, to the point where "tho" will become commonplace spelling...
