How is it that eye contact is such an important thing for mammals. Not just sentient beings such as ourselves, but dogs, gorillas, animals in the safari. What is the impact of seeing someone seeing you? Knowing they they are looking, knowing they know you are looking, knowing they know you know. Why is it that you look around, looking at people, but as soon as they look back, looking at you, which is what you are doing to them, you feel compelled to look away? Why is there so much weight and meaning there? Such impact if someone retains your gaze, refuses to look away? There's almost a feeling that you've just shared a moment in time.....
